Amaro Nonino Quintessentia

The art of distillation has been a Nonino Family privilege since 1897. In that time, the grappa distillers have earned a reputation as probably the most famous producer of marc brandy in Italy. Nonino Distillery is located in the province of Udine and thus in the heart of grappa production. The family business guarantees in any case the best grappas that are natural and traditionally produced. Born in Fiuli, borderland,  crossroads of several populations and manifold influences, Roman, Arabian, Celtic, Venetian and Slavic; Amaro Nonino Quintessentia is the result of the Nonino alchemic art, enriched by important cultural contaminations and great knowledge of botanical varieties also comin from far and exotic lands. The name Quintessentia was chosen to celebrate the alchemic achievement of the purest essence in the generation passage of the family recipe. The cup that stands at the top and center of the label is the Bowl of Hygeia, a way to honor the origin of Amaro, historically born as a medicinal remedy. 

Amaro Nonino has an earthy nose with notes of bitter-orange and cinnamon. Followed by a hint of burnt caramel coming through at the end. The palate has that “grown-up” bitter-sweet taste; achieved by the addition of sugar, so as to balance the bitterness of the botanicals.
