Château de Lamarque is an historic estate in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux. The 35 hectares (86 acres) of vineyards are planted to 45 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 percent Merlot, 15 percent Cabernet Franc and the remainder to Petit Verdot. These vines are situated on the left bank of the Gironde river and planted over three parcels characterized by soils rich in gravel, clay and sandstone. Each grape variety is vinified and fermented separately in large concrete vats, with only the best vats making it into the final Château de Lamarque blend.
Deep colour. Intense aniseed, dark berry fruit with floral notes. Well concentrated dark berry, mulberry fruit, chewy long tannins and lovely vanilla mocha oak complexity. Still in elements but well balanced. Finishes brambly but long and juicy.
