Tiny (4.5ha, 11 acres) family-run property in the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank. This grand vin is known for its concentration, creamy texture, intense black fruits and spicy character. The vineyard sits on deep layers of gravel on the edge of the Pomerol plateau. Yields are very low even by the standards of Pomerol, and only around 1000 cases (9000 liters) are made each year. The vines are old, which gives the wine of Chateau Lafleur much of its character. The average age of the vines is close to 40 years of age, but the estate also has much older vines as well, because many of their vines were not replanted after the frost of 1956.
Subtle and complex with blackberry, blueberry, fresh bark, fresh black truffles and light wet earth, as well as forest floor. Full-bodied, yet linear and so long with an amazingly polished and refined tannin structure and finesse that draws you deep and down in the palate.
