Friexenet is a large Spanish producer based in Penedès famed for making Cava, with more than a century of history. It is owned and run by the Ferrer family, who have 16 wine labels in major winemaking regions all over the world. Freixenet's history began in 1861 when Francesc Sala Ferrés began making wine and exporting significant quantities to countries in the mainly Spanish-speaking countries of North and South America. In 1889, the winery began to shift its production from still wines to sparkling and, in 1914, Freixenet officially took form.
The Cordón Negro is a light cava that is valued for its great freshness, which keeps it up with the times. It is made with a blend of the three main varietals of the Penedès region: Parellada, Macabeo and Xarel·lo.
A bright, pale yellow colored cava with greenish highlights. The bubbles are abundant, fine, persistent and very well integrated. Fine and delicate aromas, with a predominance of green fruit (apple and pear), light hints of ripe tropical fruit (banana and pineapple notes), with a background of citrus and fresh herbs.
