Pio Cesare is a wine producer in Piedmont, Italy, particularly known for its elegant Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The estate was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio, and is one of the oldest in the region and one of the first to export. It is still owned and run by his descendants. The cellar is located in the centre of Alba and its main walls date back to the Roman period. The company owns 70 hectares (172 acres) of vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. Grapes for Pio Cesare's wines is also sourced from managed vineyards under long term contracts. 

The very first single vineyard Barolo produced by the Pio Family, for the first time in 1985. Winemaking involves the first passage in steel tanks, at rather high temperatures. Maceration on the skins follows for about 30 days. Finally, the refinement takes place in French and Slavonian oak barrels for about 30 months and a small part in barriques.

A ruby ​​red color, with garnet hues. The scent is rich, intense and fragrant, the nose is typical of cloves, cinnamon, violet and red cherries. Taste is full and mineral, the tannins are vigorous, the finish is long and persistent. It has the solid structure characteristic of territory.
