Chablis Premier Cru Montmains

Domaine Besson is a family and independent estate from four generations of winegrowers. This family estate in Chablis has 21 hectares under vine and has been run by four successive generations and produces seven appellations within Chablis area. Located in the heart of the Chablis, Domaine Besson tries, in its wines, to express and transmit the purity and sensitivity of this exceptional and unique terroir. The philosophy of Domaine Besson is for this reason to provide all the necessary care so that the vines express all their strength and typicality.

Montmains is both an individual Premier Cru climat site in Chablis that sits just to the southwest of Chablis town, as well as a flag-bearing, or umbrella, title that also covers the Premier Cru vineyards. The reasonably thin, clayey surface on top of the famous Kimmeridgian marls moderate the cooler nature of the site. Nonetheless, wines from Montmains itself tend to be fresher, mineral and more elegant than their sometimes more "structured" neighbours on the steeper slopes to the south.

This is a rich wine, with ripe acidity and a nod towards yellow fruits. Full in the mouth while also poised, the wine has great acidity and a tight, nervy, mineral texture.
