Castello di Montepò is a Tuscan wine estate in the Scansano district of the inland Maremma Toscana region. It was founded in the 1990s by Jacopo Biondi Santi of the famous Montalcino family. The winery is housed in the imposing Montepò castle – a single fortress building dating back to the 12th Century and set on a rocky outcrop surrounded by woods and vines. The Scansano region is well protected by surrounding hills and the mesoclimate is dry with cooling breezes. The vineyards are predominantly planted on schist subsoils, but the exposure and altitude of the plots do vary.

Vibrant ruby red color. Very fragrant nose of boysenberries, currants, and ripe black cherries. Some earth and soy. Mid weight mouth fell, but is elegant and super classy. Some crème de cassis and framboise. Tight tannins and nicely balanced with very long and pure finish.
