Château Phélan Ségur is a wine estate in the Saint-Estèphe region of the Medoc, northern Bordeaux. The grand vin is typically composed of 50 to 65 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder made up from Merlot. It is regarded as one of the better estates omitted from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It belongs to the Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux, and is classified in the Place de Bordeaux in the category of "Grand Crus Classés et assimilés (and equivalents)".

There is clear depth and interest to the brambly fruit on the nose - it unrolls on the palate and makes you feel it has more to give. Could easily drink now although the tannins will integrate further, and should stay at this plateau for a good decade or more. The tannins are slightly chewy, they have give in them and contribute to the feeling of fullness and confidence through the palate. Notes of dark chocolate with Saint Estèphe power - austere on the finish right now but so juicy and mouthwatering that you're happy to be patient.
