Saint-Aubin Murger des Dents de Chien Premier Cru

Chavy-Chouet: Two families, two villages on the Côte d'Or linked by a love for terroir over seven generations. 

Murgers des Dents de Chien is a Premier Cru vineyard high on the Côte d'Or escarpment in the Saint-Aubin appellation of Burgundy. The wines from this vineyard have a solid reputation, producing medium bodied Chardonnay with fine aromas and good minerality. Murgers des Dents de Chien has a similar kind of soil to Le Montrachet below, made up of pebbly, broken limestone. This is shallow and very well drained. The lack of water in the soil also means that warmth is readily absorbed during the day, providing help with ripening during the growing season.

The lofty location of this plot and its impoverished soil result in a fine, subtle wine with more marked acidity. It is a feminine wine, evolving slowly with notes of blossom and spice, before taking on greater density and revealing its power.
