Champagne Deutz is a notable Champagne house of the Aÿ region. It was founded in 1838 by wine merchants William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. Deutz is well-known for its balanced, elegant wines made from the classic Champagne blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Nearly 80 percent of grapes is sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites. In 1983, after generations of ownership by the Deutz and Geldermann families, the company was sold to the Rouzaud family, the owners of Louis Roederer.
Amour de Deutz is particularly rich and sunny. It offers nice promises. Its crystal clear robe with white golden glints has a fine lace of bubbles. The nose reveals a good aromatic complexity and expresses enjoyable aromas of mirabelle and nectarine along with a hint of pastry. The attack is bold and frank on the palate, with a fresh and mineral-marked aromatic bouquet. This Deutz finish shows a nice lingering paired with fine notes of flower and citrus fruit, representative of the Chardonnay.
