Montevertine is a wine producer in Tuscany. It traces its beginnings to back to 1967, when Sergio Manetti bought a vacation home in Chianti and planted two hectares (five acres) of vines with the intention of making some wine for friends and family. The first vintage in 1971 was such a success that Manetti took a few bottles to the Vinitaly wine show in Venice where the wine garnered such a positive reaction that Manetti made winemaking his new career. Montevertine is now known as a cult producer of high-quality, Sangiovese-dominant red wines from Tuscany.

Beams of tannin dominate over the radiant fruit that was much more expressive when the wine was in barrel. Readers will have to be patient with the 2015, as it needs at least a few years in bottle to show the natural richness of the vintage that was so evident when the wine was in barrel.
