Pietracupa was founded in 1993. The 3 hectares of vineyards were chosen with the express purpose of showcasing Montefredane to the wine world. Located in the province of Avellino on elevated, mountainous terrain. The vineyards of Pietracupa reach heights of up to 800 meters. The soils are loamy and calcareous. Thanks to good south-eastern locations, the vines benefit from a microclimate with sufficiently high temperature fluctuations, which allows the grapes to ripen very well. Winery quickly gained a reputation within and beyond Italy for some of the best Greco and Fiano wines. The wines are ready for consumption after bottling but have excellent age-ability, becoming more beautiful as they gain complexity in the bottle.
Light, bright and intense straw yellow. An exemplary and complex tapestry of rare and delicate aromas: hedgerow, nectarines, kumquats, ferns, sage, white pepper and ginger. In contrast to the genteel nose, the palate has few rivals for flavor and energy with an overwhelming savoury-acid grip. Its long trajectory ends in an irrepressible glow of citrons and white peaches.
This Greco is often considered by many to be the single best example of the variety.
